Database Migration Steps

Note: You have set either of the following Database collation:

  • POSIX.UTF-8
  • C.UTF-8
  • C
  • POSIX


  1. Take Application Backup
    1. https://helpdesk.finxera.com/secure/admin/XmlBackup!default.jspa
    2. Provide Backup Name and Click "Backup"
  2. Stop Application
    1. Login to Bastian Host
      1. ssh username@10.10.11.212
      2. Login to Helpdesk Server(Node a)
        1. ssh 10.10.14.175
        2. Enter your password
        3. Switch to Root user
          1. sudo bash
        4. service jira stop
      3. Move XML backup to import directory
        1. cp /atlassian/fx_nodes/cluster/export/<BackupFileName> /atlassian/fx_nodes/cluster/import
      4. Login to Helpdesk Server(Node c)
        1. ssh 10.10.14.224
        2. Enter your password
        3. Switch to Root user
          1. sudo bash
        4. service jira stop
  3. Remove MySQL Reference
    1. On Helpdesk Server (Node a)
      1. Goto following directory
        1. cd /var/atlassian/application-data/jira
        2. cp dbconfig.xml dbconfig.xml-mysql
    2. On Helpdesk Server (Node c)
      1. Goto following directory
        1. cd /var/atlassian/application-data/jira
        2. cp dbconfig.xml dbconfig.xml-mysql
  4. Start Jira
    1. On Helpdesk Server (Node a)
      1. service jira start
    2. On Helpdesk Server (Node c)
      1. service jira start
  5. Configure DB
    1. Follow steps onn UI and configure DB
  6. Initiate XML Import
    1. https://helpdesk.finxera.com/secure/admin/XmlRestore!default.jspa
    2. Enter Backup File Name (Step 1a)
      1. Note: Check Radio Button (Outgoing Mail  Disable)
    3. Click on Restore
  7. Monitor Logs for errors
    1. tail –f /var/atlassian/application-data/jira/log/atlassian-jira.log
  8. Stop Jira(Only after restore completes)
    1. Login to Bastian Host
      1. ssh username@10.10.11.212
      2. Login to Helpdesk Server(Node a)
        1. ssh 10.10.14.175
        2. Enter your password
        3. Switch to Root user
          1. sudo bash
        4. service jira stop
      3. Clear Caches & Plugins
        1. cd /var/atlassian/application-jira/jira/
        2. rm –rf caches/*
        3. rm –rf plugins/.osgi-plugins plugins/./bundled-plugins
      4. Login to Helpdesk Server(Node c)
        1. ssh 10.10.14.224
        2. Enter your password
        3. Switch to Root user
          1. sudo bash
        4. service jira stop
      5. Clear Caches & Plugins
        1. cd /var/atlassian/application-jira/jira/
        2. rm –rf caches/*
        3. rm –rf plugins/.osgi-plugins plugins/./bundled-plugins
        4. service jira stop
  9. Start Jira
    1. On Helpdesk Server (Node a)
      1. service jira start
    2. On Helpdesk Server (Node c)
      1. service jira start
  10. Re-indes Jira(Locked)
    1. https://helpdesk.finxera.com/secure/admin/IndexAdmin.jspa
  11. Validation Steps
    1. Create Jira Project
    2. Create Issue
    3. Close above created issue
    4. Create issue through email(With and Without Emoji)
    5. Create Sample Workflow, Customefields, issue type, screen)
    6. Run Database Integrity Checker
